How did you become a professional producer/singer/songwriter?
I became a professional by passion, dedication, hard work and believe. Even though I must’ve fallen over a thousand times, I never stayed lying down, but always got up and tried harder.
Did you study to become a producer/songwriter?
No, I am a so called autodidact, which means I taught myself. I feel music should come from within, from an emotion, a feeling. That’s why I think a study could be helpful in some cases, but isn’t a must. Besides that, to be honest, I never wanted anybody to tell me what I should or shouldn’t do, I don’t know any boundaries. As long as it feels good, it is good. On my journey to where I am at now, I was fortunate enough to meet and have a small group of great people I could, and still can, rely on when ever needed.
What are your goals for the upcoming year?
For the upcoming year I hope we will get closer to having an international breakthrough. We work hard for it and I am convinced that hard work pays off. Besides that, I would like to learn to play more instruments, so I can finally beat Shaneaux on the keys, lol!
Is there a standard work method you use when creating a song?
No, I don’t have one actually. It really depends on the moment. I could start by humming a melody, writing words or start with the music. It’s never the same. The only thing that stays the same is the quality of the end result. That’s what I feel matters most!
Who are your favorite artists?
My all time favorite artist is Michael Jackson (R.I.P.). This man has inspired me in so many ways with his songs, lyrics and performances. So sad that he has passed away so soon. Besides MJ, I just appreciate good music in all genres. Some of the names you will find on my iPod are Stevie Wonder, Brian McKnight, Usher, Chris Brown, Rihanna, Jazmine Sullivan, Justin Nozuka, Jessie J, Adèle, Maroon 5 and many more.
Who are your favorite producers?
That’s an easy question to answer: Hyplified of course! Okay okay, I’ll answer the question the way it’s supposed to be. My favorite producer is Timbaland. Since I was a little kid Timbaland has had the sickest beats and now years later he is still here, reinventing his sound over and over again. I really respect that. Besides Timbaland I also love listening to productions of producers like The Underdogs, David Guetta and Stargate.
Who would you love to work with?
I’d love to work with artists and producers that inspire me and motivate me to give an extra 50%. Besides working with and developing talented upcoming artists and producers, I would love to work with several major artist from all over the world.
What software do you use for your productions?
Coming from being a fanatic FL Studio user on the PC, I have to say that since about a year I have been working in Logic on the Mac.
What is your favorite VST plugin?
This of course depends on the type of music I make, but I love the Nexus plugin!
What is your advice for upcoming producers?
Don’t let anything stop you from achieving your goals. Even with a low budget, it is possible to create some nice material and get heard. Look for your own sound, the sound that makes you stand out from the rest. If you are good today, be better tomorrow!
